Pullarao Pentapati - Congress Party’s Election Manifesto

A few days ago the Congress party announced its manifesto for the 2014 elections. The leadership made much of their “new ideas” and assured the people of India that they will take India to great heights.  The leadership never touched on why their government failed and how they expect people to believe that their manifesto will cure India of the illnesses it created for the country.  There are two aspects to a manifesto. Will the political party fulfill promises?  Secondly, will the promises be so harmful that it will destroy the country? It is like the medical joke which says the operation was successful but the patient died.   Having seen the country slide towards economic and social chaos in the last 5 years, why should Congress expect the people to believe that the future will be very rosy for Indians.

Pullarao Pentapati - Challenges Before The BJP

There is no doubt that since a year Narednra Modi has led the BJP to great heights. Every survey says that the BJP is poised to get around 180- 200 MPs in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. There is still about 50 days left for the election end. If   “a week is a long time in politics “as ex-British Prime Minister Harold Wilson said 40 years, then 50 days is really eternity. Anything and everything can change. The problem for the BJP is that things are going well and anything can go wrong.

Kejriwal‘s Wrong Steps In Varnasi - Pullarao Pentapati

Kejriwal is learning that success cannot be repeated every day. Kejriwal and his associates are masters of the media mindset. They are all street –smart and know how the ordinary man reacts to a given situation. They have been very successful and the country was pleasantly surprised that without money and huge offices and a media, a new political party can thrive. In Delhi, the Kejriwal party mad e a great opening, The issue ether is not how they did in Delhi or whether they were right in resigning after 49 days.

The biggest problem in a tyrannical democracy By Pullarao Pentapati

Where only one or two parties dominate is the ability of the ordinary citizen to “Speak truth to power”. Whether one agrees with the idea that we need more political parties, in a democracy the most important issue is the power to ask questions.  Those in total power get very angry when you ask questions.
Lord Acton famously said in 1897 that “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men”.
