NREGS and Farm suicides
Residual family of any farmer who
committed suicide should be given NREGS card with permission to work on their
own land…as is allowed for Sch. Castes and Sch.Tribes. . Right now, there is no
help for such suicide victim families
from NREGs. (Min. of Rural Development).
Small changes needed in New Land law.
Either through policy or rule changes.
New Land Law
is of no benefit to anyone who lost his land before Jan.1, 2014. It is being viewed very negatively as victims of land acquisitions
since 2005 get no benefit at all. New Land Law was first introduced in
Parliament in 2005-06. Govt. can consider giving benefits in Relief and Rehab
from then. Large displacement projects like Polavaram Dam in Andhra now get no benefit
though New Law was originally targeted for them.

If
government decides to enhance LPG
cylinders to 12, then the present system of Adhaar-dependent should be changed.
Government will get credit for it. (Petroleum)
Exchange of fishermen –prisoners
This should
become a routine for India. We should not wait
to repatriate foreign fishermen, endlessly waiting for diplomatic
reasons. Unless there are special circumstances, India should try sending back
fishermen after due scrutiny…Fast repatriating ensures quicker return and
better treatment of Indian. This was
tried in 2005 and worked. (Min. of External Affairs and Home Ministry).
